America is home to some of the most beautiful scenery on the planet, awe-inspiring locations so beautiful that they draw in countless visitors every year and make other adventurous travelers' picks for bucket list destinations to visit at lease once.
LoveExploring searched every corner of the country, "from sprawling canyons and towering sand dunes to huge glaciers and picturesque valleys" to compile a list of the "most stunning natural wonders" America has to offer. These are the kinds of gorgeous locations and monuments that promise breathtaking scenery that will leave you speechless and in awe, creating a lasting memory to cherish the rest of your life.
Among the list of natural wonders are three spots in Colorado: Garden of the Gods, Star Dune (Grand Sand Dunes National Park and Preserve) and Crater Lake (Elk Mountains). Here's what the site had to say about these incredible wonders:
"Located in the heart of Colorado Springs, the Garden of the Gods is a National Landmark defined by towering rock formations, consisting of red, pink and white sandstone as well as limestone."
"The golden mounds of Great Sand Dunes National Park and Preserve are a sight to behold. The protected dunes are the tallest in North America reaching around 750 feet at their highest point. It'll take you around five hours to reach the summit of Star Dune, the tallest of them all."
"The Elk Mountains in Colorado are littered with scenic viewpoints and gorgeous landscapes, yet nothing beats Maroon Bells – two of the highest peaks in the Elk Mountains – reflecting in Crater Lake."
